The Space
Thulite Chalet sleeps up to six guests across two beautifully appointed bedrooms and a sleeper sofa — each dressed in premium linens, pillows, and blankets for a restful night at elevation. A wood-burning indoor fireplace with firewood provided sets the tone for unhurried evenings, and two decks invite you to take in the surroundings at any hour. The photograph above (or left) is the view from the upper deck — no filter, no enhancement.
The Kitchen
The fully equipped kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook and dine well. Expect a full suite of quality kitchenware and dinnerware, stemware, a refrigerator, oven and cooktop, dishwasher, toaster, blender, and coffee maker. A propane BBQ grill and outdoor dining area extend the experience outside when the weather invites it — which in Estes Park, it usually does.
Comfort & Connectivity
A note on climate: Thulite Chalet does not have air conditioning, and it doesn't need it. Average evening temperatures in July and August range from 45 to 52 degrees — open the windows and let the mountain air do its work. For rainy afternoons and lazy mornings, streaming television and high-speed fiber internet (1+ Gbps with WiFi) keep you connected as much or as little as you choose. An in-unit washer and dryer rounds out the practical comforts.
The Details
We believe the small things matter. Basic toiletries, a hair dryer, and fresh bath towels are provided. A curated selection of books awaits the unhurried guest. Families traveling with young children will find a high chair and pack-and-play — and a secret "café" tucked beneath the stairs for the little ones to discover.
The Grounds
Step outside and the property becomes its own destination. A hammock and chairs are set in the meadow for afternoons that ask nothing of you. At the "Lookout," Adirondack chairs and a gas fire pit sit beneath an open sky with views that reward the short walk every time.
For those drawn to the trails, there are trekking poles, hiking sticks, and adult snowshoes — everything you need to step directly from the door onto the Gem Lake and Lumpy Ridge trailheads, whatever the season.
Your Peace of Mind
Smoke detectors, a fire extinguisher, and a first aid kit are in place throughout the property. Thulite Chalet is a smoke-free, pet-free property — maintained to a standard we'd be proud to stay in ourselves.
Policies and Rates
Rates range from $250 per night in the off-season to $400 per night during peak season and popular event weekends. A $200 housekeeping fee is added to each stay, reflecting the thorough preparation we put into welcoming every guest.
Thulite Chalet is a smoke-free, pet-free property. We ask that guests honor quiet hours between 9 PM and 7 AM, and that the property be used for private residential stays only — no events, parties, or commercial photography. Open flames are not permitted anywhere on the property; a gas grill and gas fire pit are available for your enjoyment.
Check-in begins at 4 PM and is flexible when circumstances allow. We kindly ask that all guests depart by 10 AM to ensure the property is properly prepared for the next arrival.
Cancellation policy: A full refund is available for cancellations made 14 or more days prior to arrival. Cancellations within 7 days of arrival are non-refundable.
Wildlife and Safety
Wildlife is a constant and cherished presence at Thulite Chalet. The photograph above (or left) was taken just outside the front door — a reminder that here, you are genuinely in their territory. Dawn and dusk are the most active times; we recommend moving in groups, staying aware of your surroundings, and giving all wildlife the space and respect they deserve.
Bears are regular visitors to the property. Please do not leave food in your vehicle, and keep car doors locked at all times. You may also be fortunate enough to encounter mountain lion, bobcat, elk, coyote, and deer — each a remarkable part of what makes this landscape so extraordinary.
